Majority of governors are likely to be re-elected, if elections were held today.
This is according to a recent poll by Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA).
The research was conducted in four counties of Bomet, Siaya, Nandi and Murang’a.
The survey indicated that in Bomet, out of 660 respondents interviewed, 44 per cent of voters still support the incumbent governor Isaac Ruto, his rival, Joyce Laboso comes in second with support of 32 per cent, Julius Kones had 19 per cent support, while 6 per cent of residents were yet to decide.
In Nandi, aspirant Henry Kosgei was the most preferred candidate at 36 per cent followed by Felix Koskei at 21 per cent. Cleophas would come in with 18 per cent, while those who were still undecided stood at 18 per cent.
Barnbas Sang, Stephen Tarus and Abraham Mutai would follow each other at 3 per cent, 2 per cent and 1 per cent respectively. A total of 700 respondents were reached in the county.
In Siaya gubernatorial race, governor Cornel Rasanga still enjoys a majority support from the residents at 40 per cent, William Oduol follows by 29 per cent, Nicolas Gumbo comes in third, at 20 per cent. Senator James Orengo has only 3 per cent.
The research in Siaya saw 350 residents polled.
Mwangi Wa Iria would take the day in Murang’a county with a majority support of 48 per cent. In the second position would be Jamleck Kamau at 34 per cent.
Moses Mwangi would garner 6 per cent. 10 per cent still did not know who to vote for.
A total of 500 residents were interviewed in Murang’a.
