Latest opinion polls released by 3 independent pollsters revealed that majority of Kenyans say the country is headed in the wrong direction.

According to research firm Ipsos, 49 percent of Kenyans fell the country is headed in the wrong direction, 40 percent said it is headed to the right direction while two percent they do not know.

Infotrak findings revealed that 51 percent of respondents say the country is headed in the wrong direction, 34 percent are of the opinion that it is headed in the right direction whereas two percent of those polled are not sure.

Strategic Africa indicated that of those who think the country is headed in the wrong direction stood 47 percent, 30 percent feel the country is headed in the right direction and eight percent are not sure.

Majority of those who felt the country is headed in the wrong direction came from Nyanza, Coast and Western region. They alluded to corruption, poor leadership and inequality in distribution of jobs and resources.  

This as majority of Kenyans who thought the country is going the right direction are from North Eastern Kenya followed by Central and  then Rift Valley region. They cited security and infrastructure as their main reasons.

The research conducted by the three independent pollsters was commissioned by Citizen in a move to gage the mood of the country and the general state of Kenya ahead of the general election. The polls were carried out at the end of last week and the numbers delivered on Monday.
