Nakuru County Assembly majority leader Waithuke Njane says that 95 per cent of ward representatives from the county will not make it back in the next general election.
Njane said that the assembly will have a completely new look come 2017.
“Many of my colleagues will not be here in 2017 and they already know that. That is why some of them seem not to care at all,” he said.
Speaking in his office on Thursday, Njane said that most of his colleagues have done very little since they were elected.
He blamed the few number of legislations being passed by the county assembly to the persistent absence of members from the house. He accused MCAs of only being fully present during committee sittings for allowances.
“The only place you can find them is at the different committee sittings where sitting allowances are attractive. The passage of legislations has become hard because majority of MCAs have become experts of making technical appearances in the house,” said Njane.
He called on his colleagues to change the way they are conducting their activities if they want to be at peace with the electorate in 2017.
Njane’s admissions came days after Nakuru Senator James Mwangi blamed the county assembly for being too sluggish in passing legislations that can spur development in the county.
