Teachers in Kisii County have been asked to maintain high moral standards while discharging duties to avoid disciplinary actions.
Speaking when he visited Nyamache high school on Monday morning, Kisii county TSC director Martin Bunde said most of the teachers his office interdicted in the last financial year are those who involved themselves in carnal knowledge with students and desertion of duty.
“A good number of teachers have been deregistered and their names put in the Kenya Gazette because of showing low standards of morality by engaging in sexual affairs with their students,” he said.
He said that TSC is committed to providing the best services to the public and those out to tarnish their good name will not be spared.
“When you perform exemplarily TSC will appreciate your efforts but when you mess we will not hesitate to show you the door,” he said.
Bunde urged all the teachers to ensure they familiarise themselves with the ethical code of conduct and other acts for them to discharge their duties without friction with the law.
“Most teachers mess because of not upholding what the TSC ethical code of conduct states. I urge all of you to make that booklet be your companion all the time as it is essential to the teacher’s service delivery,” she said.
He urged parents and other stakeholders to support heads and school managements for improved academic performance to be realised.
