A Nakuru man whose wife gave birth to a baby boy and later allegedly buried it alive has broken his silence over the matter.
Vincent Cheruiyot, a worker at Lomolo Sisal company in Nakuru, spoke to journalists moments after uniting with his one-week-old boy.
It is alleged that Cheruiyot’s wife, Christine Auma, buried her two days-old baby alive in Rongai constituency.
“I am relieved to unite with my angel, Flavour Bahati. I thank God for saving him,” said Cheruiyot.
“I left her in the house as I went to Subukia and it is alleged she delivered the baby at home then secretly made her way to the nearby bush and dug a shallow grave before burying the baby alive,” recalls Cheruiyot.
Angel Gwaro, a nurse at Nairobi Women Hospital, Nakuru branch, said the baby was well and out of danger.
“We have given him name, Flavour Bahati, for escaping death while he was two days old. We are planning to take him to a children’s home in two days’ time,” said Gwaro
According to Cheruiyot, Auma has nine children - five from her first marriage - who are in various children’s homes within Nakuru.
Cheruiyot, who has four children with Auma, said he will quit the union but take care of his children.
“This woman cannot be trusted so my heart has no room for her,” said Cheruiyot.
