A 33-year old woman has been charged in a Mombasa court for the murder of her 3-year-old son in a rare family dispute that sadly ended with the life of the innocent creature.
The woman, Linet Wandalo Makugu, was adjudged to have committed the offence on 10th May at Mombasa County’s Magongo in Changamwe.
A medical assessment to ascertain her sanity will be done before she pleads to the charges.
Medical tests will be carried out on her at the Coast General Hospital following a directive by State Counsel Alice Ochola who also ordered that the suspect be given an advocate.
The Mumias resident had according to police reports gone to visit her husband in Mombasa refusing to go back and leading to the argument with her husband.
“The couple disagreed the previous night before the incident and the suspect promised to kill herself and the son,” the report says.
She had reportedly asked for money from her husband making it a condition before she left for Mumias.
“She did not like the idea of travelling back home unless she was given Sh50,000 to start a business at the village,” the police report read in part.
The case will be mentioned on the 6th of June.
