A parent from Githima Village in Ndenderu Ward is appealing to the government to intervene in tracing whereabouts of her daughter who went to work in Saudi Arabia three years ago.
Freesia Wainaina said that her daughter, Lilian Wanjiku, went to look for greener pastures in Saudi Arabia back in the year 2012 and she has not communicated since then.
“Lilian went to work in Saudi Arabia and we have not communicated since she left,” said tearful Wainaina.
Wainaina said that her effort to get help from Mary Wanjiru, the agent who organised for her daughter to go to Saudi Arabia and who facilitated her move to Middle-East has proved futile after she turned arrogant.
“I've been contacting the agent but she has been avoiding the issue and sometimes she abuses me when I ask her my daughter’s whereabouts,” lamented Wainaina adding that her daughter left behind a 6-month-old child and she has not sent a cent for the up keep of the kid.
She urged the government to intervene in tracing her daughter back, interrogate the said agent whom, according to Wainaina, has turned arrogant whenever the issue is raised and save her the agony.
“I've exhausted all channels but nothing is coming forth,” said Wainaina.
Over the past years, Kenyans have been flocking to Saudi-Arabia for 'greener pastures' but there has been claims and allegations of mistreatment by employers in the said country.
