Police officers in Kisii are currently holding a middle-aged woman who strangled her two-year-old son after her husband filed a divorce case at a Kisii court.
The incident has left residents of Nyachenge village in shock as most of them wondered why she would make such an evil move.
Elias Okenye, who is the brother in law to the woman said they were in plans to solve the differences the couple was experiencing when they heard of the incident.
"The husband has been accusing the woman of cheating and efforts to convey meetings and help the situation could not help," he said.
According to him, the last meeting they had did not bore fruit but instead saw the man file a divorce case against the wife.
Confirming the incident Kisii South Division OCPD Jane Munyoki said the suspect was being held at Gesonso Police Station and would be arraigned in court after a psychiatric evaluation is done.
Ms Munyoki said that after the woman committed the heinous act and informed her husband who reported the matter to the police.
"Couples should find ways of solving their differences and not through fights and committing murder," she said.
The body of the child is currently at Nyangena Mortuary.
