A Bungoma court has set free a couple accused of secretly killing a nine-year-old boy found dead in a car a week ago.
The two were given their freedom after the court ruled that there was lack of evidence.
Christine Simiyu, the boy's mother, was released on Monday together with her lover Jude Ng'ang'a on what the court said was lack of enough evidence linking them to the crime.
This came after police told principal magistrate Charles Mutai that there was no evidence linking the duo to the murder of Enos Barasa.
"We have carried out thorough investigations and there is no evidence to help us pin them down," read the statement by police.
However, Bumula OCPD Julius Muthini said police will arrest and arraign the suspects in court a second time in case they get fresh evidence.
Police on Tuesday last week went to court with the backing of a post-mortem report asking for miscellaneous charges and the court cave them five days to conduct investigations.
