A woman was found dangling from the roof of her one-roomed house in Kinoo in Kikuyu sub-county on Wednesday.
The sister to the deceased talked to her last on Saturday.
“She called me on Saturday and told me that as a family we should take care of her two children,” she said.
Her sister said she never thought much about the phone call until three days later.
“I have been trying to get my sister since Saturday but her phone went unanswered and later went 'mteja'. I therefore decided to come to her house here in Kinoo,” she said.
The neighbours were alerted of the incident by screams from the sister as she saw her dead sister dangling from the house's roof.
She was swollen, and was almost three times her size due to water retention and her skin had thinned out from stretching.
The cloth she used to hang herself was also loose from her increasing weight and it was just a matter of time before the cloth gave way and let the body fall to the floor.
The woman was suspected to have committed suicide on the said Saturday that she last spoke to her sister.
Kabete police boss Rashid Mohammed confirmed the incident.
A resident, Nyawira Muiruri said the deceased seemed stressed because she would drink alcohol and insult people without aimless.
"I am sad that the woman decided to take her life despite the hardships she faced in life," said Nyawira.
