A woman has urged the government to help her find her son who went missing eighteen months ago.
Julian Nyambura (42), a resident of Mlololongo, Machakos County said her son suffers from down syndrome.
She said Nicholas Gitau (18) disappeared from his friend’s house in Kariobangi, Nairobi County where he had made a visit accompanied by their Mlolongo family neighbor.
“Sijawahi mwona mtoto wangu tangu amtembelee rafiki yake Kariobangi, huwa ninapigiwa simu na watu tofauti tofauti eti ameonekana lakini nikienda simpati (I have not seen him since he left home to visit a friend in Kariobangi. Despite receive calls from strangers about his whereabouts, it has all been futile),” said Nyambura.
She spoke to the Star at Doors of Hope NGO office where he had sought assistance in Athi River on Wednesday.
“The last person my son was seen with told us he will return, we have been searching him everywhere. I have gone to Namanga, Mtito Andei, Nairobi, Kitengela, Machakos…in vain,” said Nyambura.
The distressed mother said the person who accompanied her son did not know he was suffering from Down syndrome.
