It is barely a month since the Ministry of Education banned the prayers during the third term in schools and now, they have banned motivational speeches.
The Education PS, Belio Kipsang said that this move will act as a shield against the radicalisation of students.
Speaking in Kisumu while addressing teachers from the county of Nandi, Kipsang said that the ministry had revoked all letters that had been given to motivational speakers.
“We have revoked all letters of motivational speakers and as a result, you should not welcome any one of them in your schools,” he said.
Kipsang said that some of the motivational speakers disguise themselves using the term so as to radicalise students in learning institutions.
“Some of these people are poisoning our children with information that is not good for their development,” said Kipsang.
For those teachers who would go against the order by the ministry, action would be taken.
“Head teachers should immediately call the police in case anybody visits their schools with letters of permission purported to be from the ministry,” said the PS.
Kipsang urged all teachers to participate in the reforms that the ministry has put in place so as to restore sanity in the sector.
