A man suspected to have stolen a motorcycle on Thursday narrowly escaped a mob lynching after he was rescued by the Administration police.

The suspect had been arrested by a group of bodaboda operators at the Ziwa Machine trading center for allegedly stealing a motorcycle two days ago.

According to the motorcycle owner Linus Matiy, his motorcycle was stolen while parked at the center as he went to collect some money he had lent his friend he identified as Jonas Tamei.

"My friend had borrowed Sh5,000 from me to buy fertilizers which he had promised to refund on a fateful day.  I parked my motorbike at the center and went to collect the money but when i returned I was shocked when I found it missing," narrated Matiy.

"I gathered a group of my colleagues to inquire if they had seen my motorbike, but everyone said they had not seen it," he added.

The motorbike Sacco leader James Too who led the crackdown in a bid to find the motorbike said that they found the suspected thief had bought new covers to conceal the stolen motorbike.

"We ordered him to stop while carrying  two passengers but our plea landed into deaf years," said Too

The bodaboda operators however pursued him until he ran out of fuel when he was arrested.

an angry mob had started to beat up the suspect before he was rescued by the Administration police officers who arrived on time.

However, the suspect sustained serious injuries to his head, legs, and hands and was taken away by the police officers.
