Commuters at the Nacho Square with the Nakuru Central Business District (CBD) were treated to a rare drama after a personal car driver engaged a bodaboda cyclist for breaking a traffic law.
According to Moses Waswa who was en route to Nairobi, he was angered by the dangerous act of the bodaboda negotiating a corner without indicating.
“That was too dangerous for both of us. He had just overtaken me near the roundabout only to come and turn left without indicating. What if I hit him?" asked Waswa.
He bitterly lamented of how some bodabodas had formed a habit of provoking unsuspecting motorists then demand to be paid.
“Some of them have formed a habit of demanding compensation after you knock them forgetting that it’s them that were on the wrong,” he said.
Waswa challenged other motorcyclists who tried to defend their own to make a legal battle asking them to produce riding licences before arguing with him.
“It’s not about defending a wrongdoer here. I can send more than 80% of you here to jail because I am sure like him, a majority of you don’t have valid licences,” he said.
It took the intervention of a police officer manning the parking lot to see the angry Waswa drive away.
The operator vanished into the crowd on seeing the officer, possibly for fear of being arrested.
