According to Sgt. Kevin Korir, who led the operation, they targeted speeding vehicles and those who violated traffic rules.

He also confirmed impounding unlicensed vehicles and drivers who either had expired licences or those who lacked the mandatory document.

“We were actually targeting those who are fond of over-speeding along this road and those who neglect observing traffic rules like failing to observe sharp corners,” he said.

“We also managed to apprehend those without valid traffic licences and impounded vehicles which lacked insurances and other mandatory requirements,” Korirr added.

The 20 suspected offenders pleaded not guilty before the court and were released on a Sh5,000 cash bail awaiting the mention of their case on March 20 this year.

Korir said the crackdown will continue till they restore order along the road which recoded over 10 cases of accidents as a result of violating traffic rules.

“I want to assure them that the operation will continue as planned. We have been warning them for quite some time and time has come for us to act decisively,” Korir added.
