Boda boda operators in Machakos town arrested their colleague who reported to work on Sunday while drunk and consequently caused an accident, when his motorcycle bumped into a tuk tuk.
His colleagues were disappointed with him for flouting the rules of operation in the town.
Machakos Central Operators Association chairman Allan Musembi said that one of his members had been involved in an accident after getting drunk during working hours.
“I alerted the officers from Machakos police station and he was later on arrested,” said Musembi.
Musembi further warned the operators under Machakos Central Operators Association against breaking the rules citing he would ensure they face the law.
“We scrapped night boda boda operations due to security of the passengers and the drivers and also to allow enough rest for our drivers. If you belong to Machakos Central Operators Association you must follow the set rules,” said Musembi.
The boda boda operator who caused the accident was taken to Machakos police station cells as he waited to be arraigned in Court.
