Boda boda operators plying Nyaikuru-Tombe road in Kitutu Masaba Sub County, Nyamira County, have lamented over poor state of the road that has rendered it impassable during the rainy season.
Speaking when they held demos and planted banana stalks in the road, the Boda boda operators asked area Member of Parliament Timothy Bosire to intervene and salvage the situation.
According to the chairman of the Boda boda operators, Thomas Arumba, the area leadership was to blame for not constructing the road yet it served main roads in the county.
“Our concerns over poor state of our roads in the constituency have not been taken serious by the county. Every time we complain over the losses the interior roads are causing to us and residents in general, we are told they are under the National government. We therefore ask the MP to come out and construct the road,” appealed Arumba.
Another boda boda operator added, “Our customers file cases in court against us once an accident has occurred. These are some of the issues we want to be dealt with and it is only through bettering the interior roads.”
An incident that angered the motorists even more is when a woman delivered at the road on her way to the hospital because of the delays due to the impassable road.
“A woman delivered at this road on her way to hospital because of the delays. The motorbike carrying her could not pass and even the car that had come to take her to hospital got stuck due to heavy rains that had rained the previous night,” disclosed John Okemwa, another motorist.
