According to the motorists, the officials have been coming unexpectedly asking them to pay a certain unexplained fee or else they would be barred from operating in the area. The motorists said the officials, who are different people each time, claim to be sent by the county’s cess office and harass them as they fear being barred from operating.

“We are tired of paying money we do not know where it goes. Also, we are being harassed by the collectors," said Ezekiel Mwangi, a bodaboda operator.

The police officers in the area acted with speed to control the angered motorists as they interrupted the business activities in the area.

"We are annoyed that the numerous motorists disrupted our daily activities. They threw stones to anyone who they came across," said an angered businesswoman.

The motorists have now vowed never to pay the money until clear information is given out to them on why and where the money is taken.

They called on the Kiambu County transport executive Njeri Gatabaki to respond to their grievances before demonstrate to her office.
