Kisii-Nyamira highway patrol officer Kennedy Cheruiyot has urged motorists to exercise caution during the upcoming Easter weekend by adhering to traffic rules to avert loss of lives through road accidents.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday evening, Cheruiyot said motorists should apply safety by adhering to the stipulated speed limits to avert fatalities on the road since many residents will traverse the county to celebrate with their families.
The officer added that there has been a rise of accidents especially along the Kisii- Nyamira highway, and there was need for everyone to be responsible in ensuring that the number of accidents is reduced.
"The police will be vigilant the same way I want motorists to ensure that they play their role in reducing the cases as we all want a fruitful Easter weekend," he added.
The officer warned those who will be caught breaking any road rules will be arrested and prosecuted or face heavy fines.
