A number of leaders from Central Kenya have reacted to the bombshell, calling it nonsensical as the only candidate for Jubilee in 2022 is Ruto.

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki and nominated senator Isaac Mwaura have strongly rejected the claims.

''Sonko should focus on developing Nairobi and leave issues of 2022 in abeyance,'' Senator Mwaura said.

''Our candidate, as you know, is none other than William Samoei Ruto. I don't think there anyone from Mount Kenya who can push away DP Ruto. No one can from Mount Kenya his ability to mobilise supporters,'' Governor Muthomi Njuki.

The two were speaking on a live television programme today.

Ruto is the default Jubilee 2022 flagbearer thanks to a pact between himself and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to the pact, Ruto would support President Uhuru Kenyatta's presidential bids for the president to return the favour in 2022.

Sonko warned Mount Kenya region leaders against holding late night meetings designed to lock out DP Ruto.
