Mourners have thronged Kisumu’s Jomo Kenyatta sports ground to bid farewell to the late Fidel Odinga, whose body was flown from Nairobi on Friday morning. The Kenya Air Force jet carrying the body touched down at the Kisumu International Airport shortly after 9am. The crowd started building up at the grounds as early as 7am and waited for the body until it arrived at around noon. After the interdenominational prayers, leaders eulogised Fidel and called for speedy investigations to know exactly what killed the 41-year-old. Siaya Senator James Orengo said some vital exhibits have been kept and will be flown to Germany next week for further examination. Orengo said autopsy done in the country has failed to establish the real cause of the death. Raila took the opportunity to thank all Kenyans who stood by him since he lost his first child. He said his family was humbled by the magnitude of sympathies and goodwill they have received. Several dignitaries including, MPs, senators and governors graced the occasion. The planned viewing was cancelled owing to the huge number of mourners who had turned up. The body later left for Bondo by road for a night vigil at his Opoda farm before a send-off ceremony tomorrow at Bondo University and the subsequent burial at family cemetery at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga home in Kango village.
