The 5th devolution Conference just began in Kakamega and today, Monday, a match pitting government is set to be played at Bhukungu stadium at around 3 pm.
The match will be one of the ways the leaders will be engaging themselves and will act as a curtain raiser for the 4-day conference.
Leaders expected to participate in the match will include governors and their deputies, senators, the county assemblies' forum and cabinet and principal secretaries.
However, there have been concerns about ticket crisis as large numbers of delegates keep arriving in the county.
No registration has been taking place since mid-morning because all the printing machines had broken down, meaning the match might see a huge number attend.
According to Peter Kaunda, Migori National Youth Alliance representative, there is need to digitize the process to allow fast and smooth registration of more delegates.
"I think the problem can be solved if the organizers can digitize at least the system that is working. With the release of ticket, they should do it in a specific way because we are in a digital world. The day is almost wasted," said Mr. Kaunda.
The 4-day conference will officially be opened by president Uhuru Kenyatta and closed by his deputy, William Ruto, on Thursday. The opposition chief, Raila Odinga is also expected to deliver a keynote speech on devolution on Wednesday.
