A motion to impeach Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki from office has been filed.
The motion is being fronted by Mandera North MP Bashir Abdullahi with 170 signatures of MPs collected.
MPs supporting the removal of Sicily Kariuki from office accuse her of arrogance when dealing with legislators and failure in her mandate.
Legislators supporting the move are also agitated by Kariuki’s decision to suspend Kenyatta National Hospital Chief Executive Officer Lillian Koros prior to investigations into the brain surgery mixup.
The MPs further have accused the CS of prioritising establishing of her office rather than handling pressing health issues.
According to article 152 of the constitution, if the motion by the Mandera North MP is supported by at least a third of members in the house then a select committee shall be appointed by the assembly to investigate the matter.
The committee shall have ten days to hear the cabinet secretary and report back to the house.
If allegations are substantiated by the committee and supported by majority of members in the house, the onus will be on the president to dismiss the cabinet secretary.
