A Jubilee Party legislator has said the number of voters who registered during the just-concluded mass voter registration by the IEBC was not the best that could have been achieved.
The MP who spoke during NTV's AMLive show on Monday blamed the lack of preparedness for the low numbers, saying measures should be put in place to avoid a repeat in future.
"Considering the targets that we set to achieve in the mass voter registration I think we have not done well enough. The events that led to low numbers should be avoided in future elections," said Kandara MP Alice Wahome.
"I think preparations in terms of ID issuance should be done properly and in conjunction with registration work of the IEBC," she added.
The legislator also praised politicians for the efforts they put in to ensure voters are enlisted during the month-long exercise.
The registration exercise closed officially on February, Sunday 19.
"Though it is not our duty to mobilise voters, I think the politicians did well in mobilising the electorate," she said.
