Gilgil Member of Parliament Marta Wangari has accused police of failing to contain the upsurge of insecurity in the area.

Wangari blamed laxity on failure by security officers to fight a deadly gang which terrorising residents.

This comes after the body of a boda-boda rider who had been missing for a week was found dumped in a forest.

The decomposing body of Bernard Gitau was on Sunday collected from Ortut Forest by police after a week-long search.

This has brought to three the number of motorcyclists who have been killed in the area and their motorcycles stolen in the past few months.

"It is sad that we are losing our hardworking young men, yet no suspect has been arrested. This has left us with many questions. We want to know why the killers have not been apprehended," the MP said, as quoted by The Standard.

She told residents to cooperate with the security officers in stopping the criminals.
