Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi has been accused of using the Dunga Unuse land issue to gain political mileage.
Abdi Daid, who is keen to unseat the lawmaker in the August polls, accused the MP of marshaling his political machineries at the expense of finding a lasting solution to the problem.Daid's sentiments come barely a week after members of the Parliamentary Lands Committee visited the area in a bid to find a solution to the residents' grievances. The findings of the National Assembly Committee have linked Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa, National Lands Commission Chair Mohammed Swazuri and former Changamwe police boss Joseph Muthee to the land scam that saw several people evicted from the five-acre parcel of land in 2010 and 2015.Mwinyi has of late been facing criticisms from his opponents who have accused him of engaging in too much politics at the expense of serving his constituents.
