Nyali MP Hezron Awiti has accused the Mombasa County government of issuing tenders and job opportunities selectively.

Awiti, who has declared interest in the Mombasa gubernatorial seat, accused county officials of sidelining certain areas.

The outspoken politician called upon leaders from the region to push for an all-inclusive government, that will unite communities in the county.

“You have seen for yourselves what we have gone through since 2013 where tenders and job opportunities are given selectively,” he said, as quoted by MediaMax.

Addressing Luhya leaders in the county, Awiti claimed Governor Hassan Joho had failed the county, adding that he does not deserve another term in office.

He said the 2017 general election will not be similar to past elections, and urged the communities in the region to support him.

He promised to unite the county and come up with development programmes that will benefit residents.

“We want to bring change in Mombasa, where everyone matters because this county is not a preserve of a few people who want to monopolise resources,” he said.
