Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi has criticised the Jubilee government for allegedly discriminating Coast residents in employment.Mwinyi challenged the government to ensure there is equality while employing Kenyans in government parastatals.Speaking at Changamwe in Mombasa during his political campaigns, Mwinyi said various government parastatals among them the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and the Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) among others State owned companies do not consider locals at the Coast whenever they are recruiting.Mwinyi claimed Jubilee had failed in uniting Kenyans and has openly discriminating against the Coastal people.“We know that there have been various exercises of government recruiting but not even a single resident from the Coast or a single youth in Mombasa has been employed. Is that what the Constitution says? asked Mwinyi. He appealed to residents to vote out the Jubilee government in the August polls.“There is no unity in the country since we feel that the country belongs to two tribes instead of all the 42 tribes,” he said. The Changamwe legislature also appealed to youth in the area to avoid taking hand outs from politicians in a bid to avoid being misused.Mwinyi said for youth to benefit from good leadership, they should only elect leaders who have a clear agenda on development and not just those with a lot of money.
