Kiambu Town MP Jude Njomo has accused Ting'ang'a ward MCA Lawrence Mwaura of peddling lies concerning the transfer of Sh3.5 million CDF money allocated for development of Ting'ang'a Dispensary.
Njomo said that the MCA has been involved in every step and is well informed of what led to re- allocation of the funds.
"There was a court case that ruled that CDF should not used to develop activities that have been devolved under the new constitution. The court gave February 19 as the deadline for projects that had been started by CDF Committees. In obeying the court ruling and instructions from the National CDF board, the funds were re-allocated by the CDF committee to be allocated to another or other projects that fall under the CDF mandate," explained Njomo.
The MP accused the MCA of intending to embezzle the funds after it was clear the money had to be re- allocated.
"The MCA and Tinganga dispensary committee wanted to have the money left in the account so that they could spend it as they chose," he said.
The Kiambu legislator argued that could have amounted to economic crime.
"This would have been illegal as far as current and past CDF Acts are concerned. The CDF does not give out funds. It develops projects and hands them over to beneficiaries."
