Nakuru Town East MP, David Gikaria and activist Boniface Mwangi were on Monday charged at a Nakuru court over malicious damage of private property valued at Sh13 million.

The two alongside three others were charged that on May 19, they led a mob in damaging a perimeter wall belonging to the NSE Company at Naka Estate in Nakuru.

The five are accused of mobilizing residents of Naka estate together with parents and children of Naka primary school before leading them in demolishing a perimeter wall that was around a 10-acre piece of land owned by NSE limited.

Appearing before Nakuru Chief Magistrate David Kemei, the five denied the charges and were released on KES 200,000 bond each with an alternative cash bail of KES 500,000.

The case will be mentioned on July 25 with a hearing on August 15.

Others who were charged alongside the MP and Mwangi were Flamingo ward representative Moses Gichangi, Nakuru journalist Elijah Kinyanjui and Naka Primary School Head Master Francis Mwangi.
