Youths benefiting from the National Youth Service (NYS) programme in Kitutu Chache South constituency have been asked to invest the monies in viable projects.
Area MP Momaima Onyoka at the same time urged other leaders to support the initiative instead of politicising it.
“This programme has helped more than 1,400 youths from my constituency who were jobless but now they are earning some cash. We need to support this programme so that our youth can benefit and start their own projects to improve their livelihoods,”said Momaima.
He also urged leaders from the region to initiate development projects that will develop Kisii County instead of politicking.
“We need to join hands to develop our county. This can only be achieved when we put aside our political differences for the better of our economy,” added the MP.
He spoke on Saturday at Gusii stadium during the celebration of Bishop Joseph Mairiru Okemwa who marked his 20th anniversary since he commissioned his job.
Other leaders present also promised to support the NYS programme led by Borabu MP Ben Momanyi who said the initiative has helped many youth hence the need to support it.
