Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai has made an apology to Kitui county governor Charity Ngilu over his call for rape remarks few days ago.
According to the legislator, his utterances were unfortunate and unintended.
"Ngilu is like my mother and I have always admired her leadership. I regret those remarks and hope she finds it in her heart to forgive me so that we can put the regrettable development behind us," he said.
The MP promised to closely work with Ngilu to develop Kitui county for the benefit of the people.
Local leaders, and women lobby groups such as FIDA called for the MP's arrest and prosecution following the demeaning remarks he made.
