At least 6000 universities and colleges students from Bobasi constituency have been approved to receive CDF bursaries, area MP Stephen Manoti has confirmed.
The veteran politician also says the enrollment to institutions of higher learning have increased substantially in the region, owing the large number of applicants.
He said his leadership disbursed the money without discrimination and that poor students were given first priority.
"The CDF committee has approved 6000 students to receive 2016/17 bursaries. The figure has substantially increased but we ensured all deserving cases were well taken care of," Manoti said on Tuesday.
"The process was very fair and transparent. We want our children to benefit from the funds because that is what will transform our society," he added.
Manoti urged parents from the area to embrace education by enrolling their children in different schools to acquire education.
