Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama and IEBC have urged the high court to quash petition by an ODM candidate who lost in the August 8, 2017, elections.
In the submissions before Justice Mumbi Ngugi, Arama's lawyer and IEBC told the court that there were no irregularities in the parliamentary election.
"The elections were conducted on a level ground that was to ensure victory for with of us, voters made their choice," said lawyervJuma Nyagaka
Arama also denied allegations of voter bribery and electricity outage during the August 8 parliamentary election as alleged by his opponent, Isoke Ochoki.
Arama garnered 29,682 votes against Ochoki’s 25,071votes.
The IEBC maintained that the results gained by the candidates were genuine.
"The electoral process was not marred with irregularities and inconsistencies in favor of his competitor Arama from Jubilee Party, both parties agents and the IEBC agents made sure the election were free and fair," said Lawrence Karanja for the IEBC.
Karanja also told the court that the allegations that the IEBC accreditation system and selection of agents to favour Arama were false.
