They want it extended for six days as from March 9th to March 15th.

The locals argued that the deadline set will not enable the increased number of students to pick the application forms,  fill and submit back for processing.

"We have students studying in Mombasa and other far towns like Garissa. The forms should be taken to the institution to be signed before they are submitted back to CDF offices for processing. We are appealing to Oyioka to extend the deadline to March 16 for parents to organize how the forms will get to various universities and colleges before they are submitted back," said Nelson Ombui.

Ombui stated that the timeline given is not favorable and many students may be locked out from getting the CDF funds.

"If the students won't apply for the CDF funds it will mean they will not get the funds. The legislator needs to do something urgently for the sake of students studying far from Kisii region," he added.

Kellen Misoko, Bonchari University Students Association Treasurer said no student should be locked out because the MP promised that everyone will be considered when allocating CDF funds.

"Oyioka promised that no one will be locked out from the CDF kitty. He should live by his promise and extend the application deadline so that every student will be able to submit the filled forms for processing," she said.
