Machakos town legislator Victor Munyaka now wants the county government to involve locals in development matters.
Speaking at Machakos town on Saturday, Munyaka said that the government must involve the people in key decisions concerning the county.
He observed that the people have the right to be engaged in matters that concern their county, adding that locals should have a say in matters that take place at the county, and that devolution is meant for the people.
“The constitution gives residents the right to be told of what is taking place, the county government has a responsibility to communicate with its people,” said Munyaka.
Munyaka further asked the county government to ensure that all residents benefit from the development projects.
The MP observed that Machakos people are in need of better services, and that the county should be on the frontline in providing the same.
The ODM MP went on to urge the government to strategize on how job opportunities for the youth will be created, adding that lack of job opportunities is the main problem ailing Machakos youths.
He noted that creation of employment opportunities will go a long way in addressing crime and poverty, noting that many youths are opting to join criminal groups because they lack employment.
