Juja Legislator Francis Munyua wants Kiambu County government to quickly work on modalities that will ensure residents are supplied with clean drinking and consumption water.
Munyua noted that locals have no access to water supply, a move he says that has hindered their daily activities.
He told journalists that water is a basic commodity that every citizen must get and the county government must ensure it continuous supply.
“Juja residents have no access to supplied water, the county government must do something urgently about the issue,” said Munyua adding that locals now depend on water being sold by middlemen who charge them expensively for a 20 litre container.
The Legislator also said locals are at risk of contracting disease that come with dirty water and poor sanitation.
At the same time, Munyua asked locals to demand services from the county government since it is their right to do so. He added that the constitution has given people the power to demand services.
He said, “The county government must get serious and work on delivery of basic services needed by the people.”
Munyua reminded the county government that access to clean water, proper medical care, proper infrastructure and education are key areas that should be tackled immediately by them.
He vowed to continue pressuring the county government to work on serious issues facing the people.
