The national government has been asked to deploy more police to fight crime in Lari, by MP Mburu Kahangara.
Kahangara says that the presence of more security personnel would be a boost in the fight against crime. He observed that crime had increased in the past two months and he called for immediate action.
Speaking to the press at Kinale Ward on Monday, Kahangara lamented over what he called a ‘rise in criminal activities’.
Kahangara complained that crime targeting businessmen and residents was on the rise, and recommended that police ‘up their game’ in order to assure residents of the security.
“Our officers must pull up their socks and decisively deal with criminals,” he said.
Kahangara said that the security of the locals was important and had to be treated seriously by both the county and the national government.
He also asked the county government to initiate measures that would help curb insecurity.
Elsewhere in Juja, police investigators are still searching for the missing area MCA Samuel Gitau. Gitau allegedly went missing on Saturday night and it is considered possible that he may have been kidnapped.
Investigators say they are tacking mobile phone calls made by the MCA moments before he went missing.
Several leaders in the county have complained over rising insecurity and want the government to streamline security.
Subukia’s Milimani area Chief Norman Kiiru also addressed the public in a Baraza on Monday, on the same note of insecurity he warned young people against joining criminal groups. He said that he had received complaints from village elders that young people are taking part in crime.
He said that he had received complaints from village elders that young people are taking part in crime.
“We want to caution the youths against joining criminal groups, the law will not spare them,” he said.
The Chief instead asked the youths to use their time wisely and advised them to take part in activities that would add value to their lives.
He said that crime would only hold them back, adding that the local administration has put in place measures that would ensure young people are occupied with better activites.
Kiiru in the same vein as Kahangara, has called on the area locals to support security initiatives being taken by the administration.
He intimated that they were putting measures in place to boost security of all residents.
“We still urge the locals to embrace Nyumba Kumi as one of the initiative the government has taken to boost security,” Kiiru said.
