Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu has called on political leaders to unite for the sake of developing Gusii region.
Mr Machogu said that political differences among leaders and residents will not help in developing the region.
"Gusii leaders should come together and focus on development. Elected leaders should drop party politics and work for the sake of developing Nyamira and Kisii Counties to improve the lives of the people,” he said.
The lawmaker challenged politicians who lost in last year’s polls to help those in office to deliver services to the electorates.
“Political losers should work closely with those in office to ensure the region is developed. Gusii people deserve better roads, improved healthcare, good education for our children and improved road network which must be achieved through teamwork,” he added.
Machogu stated that in 2022, leaders from the community should speak with one voice to ensure more people are absorbed to work in government.
“The Gusii community has not been fully represented in the government. It is a challenge that the leaders should have one voice to help the community negotiate and get the national cake as other communities,” he noted.
The lawmaker was speaking on Saturday during a fund drive at Nyagiki SDA church in Bobasi constituency.
