Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa now wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to bar politicians who allegedly fund and instigate violence from participating in the August 8 polls.

Ichung’wa says that IEBC has the mandate to punish rogue politicians who are out to incite violence.

In an interview with Radio Maisha on Sunday, the MP warned that chaotic campaigns being fueled by some politicians are likely to be witnessed if perpetrators are not punished.

“The IEBC should bar rogue politicians who fuel chaos in campaigns from participating in the August polls,” he said. The MP said that political violence that is being been reported in some parts of the country should worry everyone.

He said that intolerance being perpetuated by some politicians is what led to the 2007/2008 post-violence chaos. The Kikuyu MP claimed that some politicians what to take the country to chaos similar to the 2007/2008.

“We must refuse attempts by few rogue politicians who are want to take the country into chaos,” he said. The Kikuyu lawmaker asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to crack the whip on hate mongers.

He said that perpetrators of violence must be dealt with according for peace to prevail.

Meanwhile, the MP has exuded confident that Jubilee Party nominations will be free, fair and peaceful.

Ichung’wa rubbished claims that JP primaries will be chaotic. "Jubilee is not like other parties where violence is the order of the day,” he said. The MP also exuded confident that President Uhuru Kenyatta will be re-elected in the August 8 polls. He said that Uhuru’s administration has performed to a second term.
