Kangundo MP Fabian Kyule has called on Machakos residents to invest in the county and promote economic development.
Speaking when he met area businesspersons, Kyule said by investing in the county, they will create jobs thus promoting the welfare of residents.
"Do not take your money elsewhere as this is the only way we will compete with other counties economically," he noted on Friday.
Kyule observed that many youths in the county were unemployed and encouraged them to pursue many opportunities being created by the government.
"Also as you look for employment, seek ways of engaging in self-employment even if it means starting a small kiosk in your village," he said.
The lawmaker asked the county government to reduce the cost of doing business by ensuring licenses and permits are affordable.
