Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria has issued bursary cheques worth Sh1.2 million to secondary school students in his Gatundu South Constituency.
When issuing the cheques at the constituency’s CDF office, Kuria urged needy to students in the area not to shy away from applying for the bursaries saying that the money has been set aside to enable them further their education.
“We thank the national government for the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) money as it has gone a long way to help very many students in this country. I request all needy students to fill bursary forms so they can continue with their education,” Kuria said.
Kuria also urged various stakeholders in the constituency to take part in uplifting the levels of education in the constituency.
At the same time, Kuria ordered the closure of some wines and spirits bar in the area saying that they outnumber the number of schools.
The legislator also took issue with the Kiambu County government which recently passed the Kiambu County Alcoholic Drinks Control Act which he said is far much weaker than the ‘Mututho law’. He said the new legislation would not be expected to do much to curb drinking in the area.
