The MP, who addressed locals at his office in Naivasha town on Friday, asked parents to take time and interact with their children.

He observed that children often spend most of their time in school, and that parents must take advantage of the holidays to know their children.

“Parents should use this time to know and interact with their children before schools re-open next year,” said Kihagi.

The MP accused parents of neglecting their responsibilities, noting that most children are going astray for lacking guidance.

Kihagi indicated that most young people are taking part in unlawful activities because they have lost direction and no one is there to counsel them.

The MP at the same time urged needy but bright students to use the holiday season and seek bursary funds from the constituency.

He said that the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committee has enough money to sponsor needy students.

“Needy students should use this holiday to present their applications for bursary,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kihagi has urged security officials in the sub-county to work beyond the clock and ensure locals are safe.

He said that security is important and must be taken seriously by both the security personnel and the residents.
