Gilgil Member of Parliament Mathenge Ndiritu has asked the police to crack-down on criminals allegedly causing havoc in the area.

The MP was speaking after the burial of a farmer who was killed by unknown assailants on Wednesday and decried high cases of insecurity. Ndiritu said that the police have a responsibility to protect every Kenyan.

“I want to ask the police to search for the killers who murdered this farmer. I will not rest until all criminals in the area are apprehended and prosecuted,” he said.

The legislator called on the national and the county governments to put in place proper security measures that will guarantee safety to residents.

He also asked the local administration to enlighten and encourage residents to embrace Nyumba Kumi initiative to boost security. Ndiritu noted that the initiative will go a long way in enhancing security in the sub-county.

The 60-year-old farmer was stabbed several times as he walked home with a friend on Tuesday evening last week. His friend however was lucky to survive with serious injuries.

The assailants allegedly used crude weapons including machetes in the attack.
