Njoro MP Joseph Kiuna has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to appoint more effective officers to security dockets in a bid to tame insecurity.
Speaking at Kianjoya trading centre in the constituency, the legislator observed that the country’s security dockets needed effective and committed individuals.
Kiuna indicated that the resignation of National Intelligence Service (NIS) director general Michael Gichangi shows disunity among security chiefs.
“Gichangi’s resignation is a clear indication that security bosses are not working together,” he said.
He said that the recent spate of insecurity across the country needs team efforts, adding that the government should boost its security machinery.
Kiuna noted that the constitution guarantees every Kenyan a right to security and that the government should ensure its people are safe.
The lawmaker further criticised the opposition leaders, accusing them of trying to hinder the development agenda being implemented by the government.
He said the referendum calls by Cord leaders are uncalled for and unnecessary.
