Speaking at Ruiru Township on Monday, Gathongo said that acts of terror will be curbed if radicalization groups in the country are eliminated.

The MP alleged that many young people are opting to join criminal and terror gangs, a move she said is a disaster to the country’s development and security.

“My appeal is to the government to investigate and deal with groups that are allegedly recruiting young people to crime,” she said.

The Ruiru MP asked the government to deal firmly with perpetrators of crime and terror, and ensure justice is delivered to victims and survivors of terror acts.

She said that terror groups are determined to split the country on religious grounds, adding that every mechanism must be sued to neutralize their intentions.

The MP said that Kenya would not be moved by terror elements whose intentions are to cause fear among Kenyans.

The lawmaker however called on the international community to support the government in fight against terrorism.

“Our international friends must support us in the fight against terrorism, it is a global problem that threatens peace in the East African region,” she said.

The legislator further asked the country’s top security to be vigilant and coordinate together in order so as to effectively deal with terror threats.
