Following the death of a Kitutu Chache South politcal aspirant, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has been forced to postpone the election.
This follows the death of Leonard Gwaro Mwamba, who died two weeks ago and as a result voters in the constituency will only vote for five elective seats in the August 8 election.
Commissioner Paul Kurgat says the IEBC has postponed the election date till after the general election.
IEBC decision was arrived at after it sought legal advice from a set of its lawyers. "We have resolved to postpone the Kitutu Chache South parliamentary elections to a later date," Kurgat told the Standard.
The IEBC has now requested the Jubilee party to bring forward a replacement for Mwamba who died in a car accident along the Kisii-Kisumu route .
Richard Onyonka who is competing on a Ford Kenya ticket and Samuel Omwando of ODM are among the candidates competing for the position
The death comes at a very crucial time in the election period and has now forced voters to wait to vote for their MP.
