A former Bonchari constituency aspiring MP is set to join the race for Member of County Assembly for Bomariba ward, a source privy to the information has told the reporter.

Paul Matarago, a former banker who unsuccessfully vied in 2007 and 2013 is set to challenge Kisii County Assembly Majority Leader Protus Moindi.

According to the source, the Matagaro was persuaded by area residents to given increasing popularity of area MP Zebedayo Opore.

"He is going for Bomariba ward MCA seat after being persuaded by locals. He is going to make the decision soon in a ceremony that will be attended by several leaders," said the source.

"It is all about promoting good leadership and that his chances in MP race could further be affected by increasing popularity of Opore," added the source.

The source further claimed that Matagaro would be going on an Orange Democratic Movement ticket and that he submitted his nominations papers a month ago.
