Limuru Constituency MP Eng. John Kiragu has revealed that at least 10 Primary Schools from the constituency will benefit from CDF project which is to see the schools construct new classrooms and renovation of the same.
The construction and renovation is meant to transform the learning condition of public schools in the constituency for better education and a conducive learning environment for the pupils.
He said that kids are learning in classrooms full of dust, falling rooftops and dirty walls since they have never been painted and thus it has called for desperate measures to be taken to bring them back to good conditions.
“Our children cannot learn in an environment which is not conducive for learning, we need them to compete just like other pupils in private schools, thus they need better learning facilities,” said the MP.
Eng. Kiragu said that he is to make sure that children who cannot afford to go to academy or private schools can still get a chance to secure a better education even in public institution.
He said that the selected schools will be the first in the constituency to have a tiling in standard 8 classrooms with renovated floors for standard six and seven and painting of inner walls and a new external facelift.
He revealed that plans are underway for installation of gutters and 10,000 litres of tanks in the schools for water harvesting and availability of clean water to enable adequate supply of water to the children and its environs.
“We have ongoing plans to establish gutters and tanks for water collection in schools for adequate supply of water for the children and villagers,” said Eng. Kiragu.
The MP has called on well wishers to join hands in supporting children in various schools to help save the future generation.
Eng. Kiragu who was speaking on Friday at Kiawaroga Primary school also expressed his concerns over poor performance by schools saying that teachers should ensure that pupils perform better in schools.
