Kibra MP Ken Okoth has rebuked international singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter over her decision to ride on a boda boda without the legally required travel gear.
Okoth through a message on his official Facebook page said the mucisian's decision to travel on boda boda was really good but admonished her for not wearing a helmet, an emblem of safety while using motorcycles.
Beyonce arrived in Jamaica late March where she is expected to record her latest songs alongside rapper Jay Z.
"Beyonce on a bodaboda in Jamaica, yes. I wish she and the rider had helmets on; it would be a very powerful message. The number of head injuries from boda boda accidents is too high," Okoth posted.
He said Kenya is among countries with the highest number of boda boda accidents.
Okoth said had the singer used a helmet and preferably a reflector jacket as she cruised along streets in Kingston Town, she would have helped send a strong message to boda boda operators who frequently cruise without the head gear.
Kibra constituency where the MP represents in Parliament is a low-scale estate domiciled by youth from humble backgrounds. Most of them are in the boda boda business.
